Bye Bye Sulgrave Road House!
It seems that the time has come for us to say goodbye to Sulgrave Road House, our H’Smith Connect (ROCKS) home! So many memories…fun times! You know that Cheer’s Theme, it’s weird and you will so laugh but when I think of out H’Smith Connect home, that is the first tune that comes into my head when I think of that house.
Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you’ve got;
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot.
Wouldn’t you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
And they’re always glad you came;
You want to be where you can see,
Our troubles are all the same;
You want to be where everybody knows your name.
It’s cheesy and I know it, laugh, but it’s true! That house has been an epitomy of Welcome Home for a lot of us, and I just wanted to take this opportunity to page my homage to it, and those who currently live in that house and have made that place home for us.
Thank you Jeremy, Crystal and Fraser for opening up your home to us, and making us feel so at home that more often than not it was hard to leave, and at times we actually didn’t leave. Season’s over and it can only get better from here. So I wish the three of you all the luck with the moves and stuff, I pray that it all goes smoothly. I know what’s ahead can only get better. Look forward to visiting you guys in your new aboad in the forseeable future =) I did make you that promise Crystal! Hehe!
…I still call Australia home…
As some of you know I went and watched the Boy from Oz Thursday Night with my cousins and my Aunt. It was opening night in Sydney and Hugh Jackman did an awesome job as Peter Allen. Hugh Jackman is a HOTTIE! He so is! Totally got a different perspective on the whole Wolverine thing. The musical was great and the whole production was completely WOW factor, so if it comes to London, and I am almost positive it is coming, hopefully with Hugh too, watch it. Especially you Crystal! One of the songs that Peter Allen is famous for, aside from ‘I go to Rio’ is a song called ‘I still call Australia home’ which has actually been bought by Qantas, so when you see that Qantas add, the song that’s playing, was written by him. As I sat there and Hugh sang that song, along with the 13,000 others, I got a little teary. What else is new? But it was just a moment of confirmation, ‘I still call Australia home’ and I feel proud to be an Aussie ‘Oi Oi Oi’. I was home. I am home. Exactly where I am supposed to be…like duh we knew this, but you know! As much as I love London, and I do, aside from Sydney it’s like the best city in the world…I have a deep love for Australia and as I sang along, I sang it with pride. Now had I seen that in London, the tears would probably be of homesickness. =)
Ohhhh…and….(I had a very exciting day yesterday) I got to talk to one of my Mates from MPC. John aka Amachi (the boy calls me by my first name and lives, so he gets to be called by his real name). We began with the conversation with the usual ‘Have you missed me, you have I know it!’ and took it from there. It was so nice to catch up with him and chat. Have a few laughs, and try to arrange a meet up. John was my IT buddy from MPC. We used to do lunches together, hangs heaps, walk to the station together, laugsh were always guaranteed when we were together. John has one of the most amazing souls I have ever met. He’s sweet, super gentle, gracious, affectionate and compassionate. If he is reading this right now you can add big head to the list. Just kidding, he’s actually one of the most humble people I know. As I say that you guys are imagining a puny little guy, but he’s quite the opposite, he’s like a a head and a half taller than me (refrain from hobbit jokes please), and he’s all muscle! I’d attach his body builder shot but he’d kill me so I better not. John totally held my hand during a ‘period’ of time…for which I will forever be grateful. We used to get the looks when we used to leave the office together whether for lunch for the end of the day, and we have perfected the art of making the most of it. We were incredibly cheeky. The one promise I had to make before I left was to be back for his wedding, and I am sooo glad I get to go. Then again he has been waiting for two years, as we had this deal that I had to be in the country when he finally married Maz. Maz is well cool! I am so happy for him.
Yesterday as 5 o’clock hit the clock I had the boys (Anthony, Andrew & Minchael) standing over my desk awaiting to escort me to the station. They’re so sweet.
What else had I planned to ramble about? Hmmm… my weekend plans are pretty laxed. I have a couple of optional things to attend, but nothing really presssing. Might go to church Saturday night instead of Sunday. That way I can spend all of Sunday hanging out at home with the family. It’s a miserable day today, it’s dark, cold and wet. Think London, cause I tell you what, that’s how COLD I am all the time. Speaking of London, a small segway if I may. Last night on the way to the Sydney Entertainment centre I rode the Monorail, which is this tube like thing but it’s above ground, as in up high. It’s great for sight seeing. I did the full loop and checked out the sights, had a little bit of time to kill. When I got off at the Entertainment Centre, it was packed with people. Seeing as it was Opening Night and all, and for a moment I felt like I was at the West End, it was easy to think considering Chinetown was right across the road. A little nostalgia hit me.
So anyways, tonight I’m going home. Takin’ a shower and jumping into my flannel pyjamas! I am taking my Doona (Duvet) into the Family Room and spending quality time with Ed (the family TV). Sooo looking forward to it. I was thinking of dropping by a friend’s house for an hour or two, but I think I’ll just head home. It’s too cold and too wet.
I hope you guys have a great weekend. Take care and be blessed. xx
